Puch maxi moped

My puch maxi moped 64cc polini kit, 19mm dellorto, modified biturbo pipe, ported case, new clutch, tires..... Speedometer goes up to 40mph, one gear, stock sprockets, and i can bury that sucker!

timmyb74 		My son bought a 1980 Puch moped. We don't know how to get it started or how it works if we do. Any help?
According to the info on the side of the bike it is a 2 HP motor that you aren't allowed to use unleaded gas in. Apparently it runs on a gas/oil mixture as there are instructions for mixing them. The rear tire is flat and there is a shock bolt missing. The front brake is very weak. He just wants something to fool around on the farm with. I would just like to get the engine running before I spend any money fixing anything else.

New carburetor, exhaust pipe, gearing (sprockets), bored out motor, find and eliminate the governor. There is small stuff you can do to try to improve speed, but alot of it is gonna cost some money to get it to haul. Ive seen those moped really move so just look around the internet because I know they make mods for them.

There isn't a "governor", only a few restrictive parts.
The main restriction in the system is the huge metal washer in the cylinder if you have a 1hp. Either dremel it out and clean it up really well, or get a cylinder kit. The next restriction is the exhaust. the header probably has two pins in it. Drill those out (if you get a new kit you will need an aftermarket exhaust). The final restriction is the carburetor and intake you need to either get new ones, or drill out your 30+ year old ones.
